Amanda Macdonald

Psychotherapy and Counselling

My name is Amanda Macdonald. I am a therapist with a real belief in the benefit of personalising therapy to provide most benefit to you, the client.

I work pluralistically. This means I integrate the person centred, psychodynamic and existential theory. What this means is that with your knowledge of what it is that has brought you to therapy, and what you hope to gain or change from therapy, I will work with you to understand how we can work towards what your outcome from therapy is.

If you chose to work with me as your therapist, then my role is to listen to you and provide a time when you are the focus. Working together to form a safe, reliable and trusting therapeutic relationship is considered the most important aspect. The relationship between client and therapist is considered even more important than what type of therapy is offered, and it is this relationship which creates a secure environment for the client, which will enable the client to gain a successful outcome from therapy.

I hold a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling CPCAB/BACP
Currently completing MSc Existential Psychotherapy at the New School of Psychotherapy and Counselling (Middlesex University Accredited)
